LSU football: 5 major takeaways from the 2024 football schedule
By John Fye
Only Four Road Games
LSU football will play seven games at Tiger Stadium again in 2024. Such bodes well for a program that finished unbeaten at home in 2023. To date, the only home loss in the Brian Kelly era was against
No. 8 Tennessee on October 8, 2022.
Seven games in Death Valley means LSU football will travel for five others. However, the neutral site game against USC means the Tigers will only play four true road games this season. LSU’s true road games include South Carolina, Arkansas, Texas A&M, and Florida.
Playing games in Fayetteville, College Station, and Gainesville in most seasons creates reasons for concern. But in 2024, the Tigers will enter all three venues as the overwhelming favorite to win.
Arkansas is clinging to SEC relevancy as Sam Pittman enters a must-win season. Transitioning to a new head coach will likely see Texas A&M take a step back from their competitive but underachieving ways under Jimbo Fisher. Meanwhile, in Gainesville, I’m not sure Billy Napier will make it to Florida’s November 16 clash with the LSU Tigers.
