LSU football: 5 major takeaways from the 2024 football schedule

Favorable Bye Weeks
As I mentioned during the Vanderbilt takeaway, easier weeks are beneficial to LSU football because of the toll as season takes on a roster. Thus, every college football program hopes their bye weeks precede their most formidable opponents. Luck is on the Tigers' side regarding such in 2024.
LSU football has bye weeks on October 5 and November 2 this season. These are significant dates because the Tigers play Ole Miss on October 12 and Alabama on November 9. Sadly (sarcasm), one of the Tigers’ opponents will not have the same luxury.
Ole Miss will travel to Baton Rouge the week after playing South Carolina in Columbia. As for Alabama, they will also enjoy a November 2 bye week before entering Death Valley. Regardless, I like LSU football to win both games.
I think that the extra rest ahead of the Ole Miss matchup gives Brian Kelly’s roster a tremendous advantage. And while Alabama will also get a week off before facing LSU, the Tigers have an edge as the team that does not have to leave home.
It's not practical to expect LSU football to finish undefeated in 2024, but I'm struggling to find a loss in their schedule. However, I admit that if they do lose a game in the upcoming season, it will be at the hands of Ole Miss or Alabama. If such occurs, it is because Kelly's squad came out flat.
