LSU football: 5 major takeaways from the 2024 football schedule

Revenge Games
Revenge games are my last slide, but such was my first thought when reviewing the 2024 LSU football schedule. Indeed, the upcoming season provides ample opportunity for the Tigers to exact revenge on teams that got the best of ‘em in recent seasons.
First up on the LSU football 2024 revenge tour is a date with UCLA on September 21. The Bruins will travel to Baton Rouge for the first time in college football history on the day. The Tigers have only played UCLA once, a 38-27 loss in Pasadena in 2021.
Most LSU football fans will recall the sloppy game in which an inferior UCLA roster stole a victory from the discombobulated Tigers. Indeed, such was the beginning of the end for then-LSU head coach Ed Orgeron.
Regardless, September 21 offers LSU football the opportunity to avenge 2021 and even the all-time score with Chip Kelly’s Bruins.
The 2024 games against Ole Miss and Alabama are also significant revenge games for LSU football. Unfortunately, the Tigers suffered losses to both programs in 2023. No loss hurt worse than that to the Rebels because Ole Miss ultimately secured the New Year’s Six Bowl appearance that LSU fans craved.
As for Alabama, Nick Saban or not, a win over the Crimson Tide would avenge the 2023 loss in Tuscaloosa and usher in a changing of the SEC West guard.
