LSU Football Commit Bryce Underwood impresses in his season kickoff
The LSU Tigers third-ranked recruiting class has been helped massively by having the Nation's top quarterback recruit Bryce Underwood committed since January. While Underwood remains the Nation's top overall recruit, there was a ton of discourse this Summer that other quarterbacks deserved the top ranking. This is mostly due to the fact that Underwood isn't as involved with 7 on 7 and Elite 11 like some of the other quarterbacks in the class.
On Friday, Underwood and Belleville High School kicked off their season and Underwood was impressive. We all know how impressive Underwood is throwing the football but, we hardly ever saw him run in his Junior season.
If Underwood is as good as he showed Friday rushing the football than he's being underrated as a recruit which is crazy as he's the top-ranked recruit. He'd start the game off with an electric 48 yard run which was called back but, he showed incredible speed and running back caliber change of direction.
While Underwood was probably upset to have the 48-yard rushing touchdown called back, he'd finish the game with a pair of rushing touchdowns including a 55-yard game winner.
In addition to the magic he made running the football, Underwood finished with a pair of passing touchdowns.
The Bryce Underwood era at LSU will be incredible
We'll likely have to wait until Underwood's Sophomore season to see him as the starting quarterback of the Tigers but, from the moment he steps onto campus anticipation will be building. If Garrett Nussmeier impresses and heads off to the NFL, we'll likely see three years of Underwood as the starter which would be incredible. Look for a recruiting boost with wide receivers next season once Bryce Underwood is officially an LSU Tiger.
