LSU Football contending for two top 2026 quarterbacks this weekend
The LSU Football team has been on a recruiting tear holding the Nation's third ranked recruiting class in the 2025 cycle and the ninth ranked class in the 2026 recruiting cycle. The biggest reason for LSU's massive class in 2025 is by far the Nation's top quarterback and top overall recruit Bryce Underwood.
It's no secret that top talent wants to play along the best especially alongside the best quarterbacks. The LSU football team will have a chance to once again land a commitment from the Nation's top quarterback while they're in contention for another star signal caller.
On August 3rd one of the top recruits in the country Faizon Brandon will announce his commitment. Faizon Brandon is ranked as the top quarterback recruit in the class by On3 and 24/7 Sports while 24/7 also ranks him as the top player in the class. This is an SEC Battle as Tennessee, LSU, and Alabama battle for Brandon while NC State is in the race. The Tigers have done a great job making up ground in this recruitment and we'll see if they did enough to beat out the presumed front-runner Tennessee.
On Saturday, another top quarterback recruit Jonas Williams will make his decision. Jonas Williams is ranked by On3 as the 7th best quarterback in the class while 24/7 pegs him as the 8th best quarterback in the class. This is a battle of College Football powerhouses as LSU battles Oregon, Alabama, and Ohio State. Joe Sloan is the main attraction for these quarterback recruits and it felt like LSU made a strong push but, this is seemingly Oregon's race to lose.
Bryce Underwood will make it tough to land top quarterbacks in 2026
As the emergence of NIL continues to make its waves through College Football, it's becoming increasingly important for recruits to see a path to early playing time. The Quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class may not see this path as on paper Bryce Underwood will start until they're juniors. The biggest positive for LSU is with Underwood you don't need to focus on landing a top quarterback in this class as you can push again in the 2027 class.
