LSU football cracks the final six for 2026 elite defensive line recruit
While Sunday was mostly doom and gloom for the LSU Football program there was some positive news released during the day. 2026 defensive line recruit JeReylan McCoy announced the final six schools in his recruitment with LSU making the cut. The Tigers are up against in-state Ole Miss, USC, Oregon, Oklahoma, and Tennessee for the four-star recruit.
On3 ranks McCoy as the 56th best player in the class, the fourth ranked defensive lineman in the class, and as the fourth ranked player in Mississippi. Landing McCoy will take an uphill battle as he's visited Ole Miss more than any other program including a visit this past weekend when the Rebels won 76-0.
On3's Recruiting prediction machine gives LSU the second best chance of landing the star defensive lineman behind only Ole Miss who has a 66.3% chance of winning out. The good news for the Tigers is that there is plenty of time left to make a solid impression and there may not be a hotter coach in the country on the recruiting trail than Bo Davis.
The Tigers have gotten off to a fast start in the 2026 recruiting cycle and currently hold the Nation's 8th ranked recruiting class. The Tigers four commitments all come from in-state recruits who have bought in on the program early and give LSU a solid foundation.
The 2026 recruiting class has a chance to be truly special
It's hard to talk about another class being truly special when LSU currently holds the third-ranked recruiting class in 2025 but, 2026 is the year to watch. The state of Louisiana is loaded with top end talent and given the way that Brian Kelly and his staff have dominated recruiting the state of Louisiana, you have to feel great about the class' potential. If Kelly and his staff can dominate in state and pick up some big pieces out of state then LSU will easily finish in the top three with a great chance at the top class.
