In the modern era of College Football, there are plenty of metrics to measure teams by plenty of which the College Football Playoff Committee takes into consideration. There is one way to measure a team though that has proven to be true year over year and that's the Blue Chip Ratio. For those who are unfamiliar with the test here is how it's creator Bud Elliott explains it:

"To win the national championship, college football teams need to sign more four- and five-star recruits (AKA: Blue Chips) than two- and three-star players over the previous four recruiting classes. "

This metric has proved true every year since its inception in 2011 while only a handful of teams have made it into the playoffs below the mark. For example, LSU football's 2019 National Championship team won the title with a blue-chip ratio of 66%.

The LSU Football team fits the mold this season with a 70% Blue Chip Ratio. This ranks LSU eighth in the Nation out of the 16 teams making the cut. The SEC Dominates this list with eight of the sixteen teams on the list and six of the top eight teams.

This metric won't guarantee that LSU has a winning season or that they'll make the college football or that they'll compete for the National Championship but, it shows that this team has enough high-end talent to make a serious run.

This should excite fans about LSU's Current Recruiting Class

It's pretty much universally accepted that in order to win a National Championship you need to recruit elite players. In LSU's current recruiting class which ranks fourth in the country, LSU has 12 players committed 11 of which are considered "Blue Chips". The LSU Tigers have a long way to go in this recruiting cycle but, thus far Brian Kelly and his staff have landed some serious talent to bolster this roster.
