The LSU Football team dropped yet another season opener that it feels like the Tigers certainly should've won. LSU had plenty of chances to put this game away in the second half but, scoring just three points in the fourth quarter killed the Tigers.

The reason the LSU football team lost this game was mostly because of a lack of true difference-makers on offense. The Tigers took four trips to the red zone where they left with only 13 points which will never be good enough against an opponent like USC. The Tigers had that difference-maker on offense in the first half in Kyren Lacy but, LSU only targeted him twice in the second half which was clearly far too little.

There were several points in this game where LSU was seemingly one play away from breaking this game open. There were several times where if Jayden Daniels was at quarterback and not on the sidelines watching, he would've ripped off a massive run as the play broke down.

On the trips where LSU stalled out in the red zone, it seemed like the receivers just couldn't get open outside of the Aaron Anderson touchdown where two USC defenders ran into each other. If on any of those red zone drives, the Tigers had a receiver like Brian Thomas Jr or Malik Nabers they come away with seven.

The USC defense was constantly sending the blitz and for good reasons. Part of D'Anton Lynn's plan was to beat a very talented offensive line which didn't give up a sack. The other reason why USC was so willing to send the house was because they didn't feel too threatened by LSU's playmakers on the outside.

In the second half, the LSU offense was turning to Aaron Anderson and John Emery Jr in spots where players like Kyren Lacy and Mason Taylor should have been the answer.

In these next few weeks LSU will need for someone to emerge.

The great news for this LSU Football team is that they now have a few weeks to regroup before their next tough test. The Tigers will take on Nicholls State, South Carolina, UCLA, and South Alabama before their next true test at home against Ole Miss. Over these next few weeks LSU will certainly field dozens of personnel groupings to find who the best few playmakers are before the gauntlet of SEC play truly picks up.
