This weekend was a big recruiting weekend for the LSU Football program as they were able to get recruits in the 2025, 2026, and 2027 recruiting classes on campus for Bayou Splash. From every account the weekend was a massive success but, the results will be based upon which recruits the LSU Football program reels in.

The Tigers leave the weekend landing a commitment early on from 2026 guard Jalan Chapman. Chapman is an in-state pickup for Brian Kelly and his staff ranked by On3 as a three star recruit and the thirteenth ranked player in-state.

Ignore the rankings on Chapman as the tape tells the story as a Chapman also had offers from Alabama, Oregon, USC, and others.

Chapman becomes LSU’s third commitment in its 2026 recruiting class. He joins Richard Anderson and Jakai Anderson giving LSU the 8th ranked recruiting class in 2026.

National Signing Day for this class is a long ways away but early on, LSU is doing a solid job and they’re doing things the right way. In-state recruits are the best bets as they’re less likely to decommit as well as more likely to stay rather than transferring out.

August will determine how LSU did with its biggest targets

The news early on is extremely positive but, LSU won’t know how well it went until August. The three biggest targets for LSU Jaime Ffrench, Jonah Williams, and Kaliq Lockett are all set to announce their commitments in August while the Tigers will have a chance at few clips next month.
