Sai'vion Jones - Edge Rusher

In 2023, a massive part of LSU's defensive struggles was the inability to create pressure off of the edges. Ovie Oghoufo and Sai'vion Jones tied for the lead in sacks at the position with 2.5 which isn't up to the defensive standard at LSU. In to coach the group is Kevin Peoples who is one of the best developers of talent at the position.

As the lead edge rusher for the LSU Football team, Sai'vion Jones should demolish his career-high of 4.5 sacks. For the better part of camp, Jones was dominant against one of the better offensive lines in the country. If the LSU defense is going to take the step we all hope they will, it has to be because players like Jones improve.

Jacobian Guillory - Defensive Tackle

As Maason Smith, Mekhi Wingo and Jordan Jefferson head to the NFL someone needs to step up at defensive tackle. It looks like that player will be Jacobian Guillory who has looked impressive this Summer in camp. Guillory's career high in sacks is 0.5 in 2021, his career high in tackles was 26 in 2023 as well as his most solo tackles with five.

Bo Davis is now in charge of developing the defensive tackles and no one should reap the benefits more than Jacobian Guillory. As the starting defensive tackle, Guillory has a ton of pressure to perform as LSU desperately needs someone to step up.
