LSU Football's chase for top overall recruit Jahkeem Stewart is about to heat up
The LSU Football team has been pursuing defensive tackle Jahkeem Stewart for a long time and they remain one of the top teams in contention for him. Stewart is the top overall player in the 2026 recruiting class according to On3, ESPN, and Rivals while 24/7 sports ranks him the 12th best player in the country. Playing his High School football at St Augustine, LSU was going to have an inside edge on Stewart as the hometown team.
There had been some rumors that Stewart would consider reclassifying into the 2025 recruiting class and they're seemingly coming true. Stewart has unenrolled from St Augustine and is expecting to enroll at a new school on monday.
We'll likely see Stewart enroll at a school where the curriculum is best set up from him to reclassify. Given that St Augustine's season had already kicked off there are some rules that need to be followed but, the move from St Augustine makes it all but certain that he'll reclassify into the 2025 recruiting class.
As things currently stand, the top three in contention for Stewart are LSU, USC, and Ohio State. Stewart was in the building on Sunday night and USC's win seemingly made a strong impression on Stewart which doesn't bode well for LSU. This will be a massive recruitment for Frank Wilson and he's built a solid relationship with Stewart's camp which fares well for LSU.
Stewart is as must get as they come
In Jahkeem Stewart, programs will be pursuing a player that can start as soon as he steps onto campus he's that talented. The Tigers need to do whatever it takes to land Jahkeem Stewart and get him into this elite signing class. Bo Davis has done an incredible job recruiting on the defensive line but, the fastest way to get the defense back to its former elite ways is by landing elite talents like Stewart.
