As we look back on this Weekend's game, we'll all have a sour taste in our mouths as it feels like LSU had every chance to win the game but, couldn't put it on ice. The Trojans defense definitely had more physicality than anyone expected going into the game and D'Anton Lynn called a solid game. Blake Baker called solid game as well and in the end it feels like Joe Sloan just got outschemed by Lincoln Riley and that's why the Trojans were able to move the ball in the fourth while the Tigers offense was slowed.

Nobody can think that the Tigers played a terrible game but, the team also clearly wasn't on their "A Game" so to speak. After every game, Pro Football Focus evaluates each player grading their performance on a 1-100 scale. Their metrics grade 90 and higher elite, 80 to 89.9 good, 70 to 79.9 above average, 60 to 69.9 average, 50 to 59.9 below average, 40 to 49.9 poor, and everything below that is very poor.

According to PFF, only four players scored out as above average in Kyren Lacy, Garrett Nussmeier, Ashton Stamps, Aaron Anderson, and Zavion Thomas. Every other key contributor landed in the bucket of playing an average game outside of Emery Jones and Jardin Gilbert who graded out as "poor". On my rewatch of the game, I thought Emery Jones played a solid game and was in a brawl all night long.

The metrics reflect exactly what we saw on Sunday night from the LSU Football team. Few stood out for the Tigers while the rest of the team felt average at best which is exactly what the metrics show.

The Tigers will get better as chemistry builds

For most of these players, it was the first time playing in the new coordinators scheme while for some it was their first time really playing at the College level. The Tigers given all of the roster and coaching turnover likely should've scheduled a Week Zero game ahead of USC to smooth out the bumps but, it's in the past now. The team showed a ton to be excited about and in a month when this team is firing on all cylinders, we'll be really excited for the biggest games on the schedule.
