LSU Football's struggle to land receivers in the 2025 recruiting cycle is odd
Nearly every year, the LSU Football team had some of the Nation's best wide receivers but, never had the quarterback to get them the football. The Tigers of late have made a change with Joe Burrow and Jayden Daniels winning the Heisman Trophy while having two first-round receivers to throw to. The trend seems to be shifting now as LSU has the Nation's top quarterback recruit but, can't find wide receivers in this class that want to attend LSU.
When you look at which school sends wide receivers to the NFL at the highest rate it's truly LSU, Alabama, and Ohio State on a level above everyone else in the country. The retirement of Nick Saban has Alabama in a wait and see position but, in this recruiting class Ohio State is the only school of the three with a receiver committed in the top 25.
The lack of receiving talent committed becomes even more puzzling when you consider the fact that LSU has the Nation's top overall recruit Bryce Underwood on board committed to play.
The Tigers have four-star receiver TaRon Francis on board which is a massive get but, the Tigers have seemingly been spurned by all of the highly touted receivers whether its for NIL reasons, playing time reasons or location reasons.
If LSU is losing out over NIL this is puzzling
The emergence of NIL has led some recruiting battles to be won or lost based upon how much money is offered to a recruit. If LSU is losing out on receivers because of NIL then it's truly puzzling as athletes are likely making the wrong decision. Look at Justin Jefferson and before him Odell Beckham Jr, both players came to LSU without NIL money and became the highest paid non-quarterbacks in league history. If you're choosing the short term over the long term, you may just not fit right at LSU.
