LSU Football will be without star receiver against the USC Trojans
We're just over an hour away from the LSU Football team kicking off it's season against the USC Trojans in Las Vegas. On the injury report heading into this game there were only two players on the injury report in wide receiver Chris Hilton Jr and guard Miles Frazier. Both were sporting boots during a point in Summer camp which caused serious concerns about their status' for week one.
The Tigers will have Miles Frazier active for the game however, star receiver Chris Hilton Jr will be out tonight as he deals with a bone bruise in his foot.
This comes as a shock as everything made it seem like Hilton was ready to go including the depth chart however, the Tigers will have to find a way to get it done without the speedy receiver.
Brian Kelly named Kyle Parker as the player to watch if Hilton was out as he is the direct backup to Hilton. The Redshirt Freshman impressed during camp but, has yet to record a stat in his career.
I'd personally expect more of a rotation alongside Kyren Lacy and CJ Daniels rather than Parker as a full time player. We should see a rotation of Parker, Aaron Anderson, Zavion Thomas, and Shelton Sampson if the Tigers dig in that deep.
Expect a heavy use of 12 and 13 personnel
While LSU feels confident in the receivers it has to replace Chris Hilton Jr, we may not need to worry to much this week. Brian Kelly has indicated he wants to find ways to get Trey'Dez Green and Ka'Morreun Pimpton on the field alongside Mason Taylor and he now has the perfect reason to do it. If LSU goes with three tight ends and pounds the football it'll be hard for the Trojans defensive line to get it done in Week One.
