The LSU Football team got to spend the weekend resting up for next weekend's showdown with Ole Miss as the Tigers were on the bye this weekend. While LSU was on the bye, they were looking to get some help in terms of improving their chances at making the College Football Playoff.

It seemed like a nearly perfect weekend for the LSU Football team as there were massive upsets all over the country. Top 12 teams such as Alabama, Tennessee, Missouri, USC, and Michigan all suffered massive losses hurting their chances at making the College Football Playoff.

Heading into the weekend, the LSU Football team had a 14.5% chance of making the College Football Playoff. After this weekend and all of the upsets, LSU's chances actually fell to 13.7% according to ESPN's Football Power Index.

The Tigers were hurt because of the upsets in the short term but, the upsets were always going to be better for LSU in the long term. Texas A&M is one of the teams that took a massive jump this weekend leaping to a 33.2% chance of making the playoff. Even after Missouri was dominated by Texas A&M they hold a 10.1% chance of making the Playoff.

Indiana is the team with the biggest odds that feels like the next team that'll fall as they're undefeated with a 51.5% chance of making the playoff. The Hoosiers still have tests against Nebraska, Michigan, and Ohio State looming that could change their chances.

LSU could hand itself the massive leap it's looking for this weekend

The easiest way LSU could get itself into the College Football Playoff race is by getting the job done on the field. This weekend, a win over Ole Miss would instantly give LSU a massive resume-building victory. The Rebels currently hold a 55.8% chance of making the Playoffs, LSU handing them their second loss before November would be massive for the Tigers' playoff hopes. Further down the schedule, LSU will get shots to knock off Alabama (70%), Texas A&M (33.2%), and Oklahoma (13.4%).
