LSU's Week One loss to the USC Trojans has aged really poorly just three weeks later
While we'd all like to leave losses in the past, with the new expanded 12 team College Football Playoff you simply can't anymore. As arguments will be made as the committee tries to nail the best seven at large teams a bad loss on your resume could be the deciding factor of whether you're playing for a chance to win a National Title or whether you're going to play in a meaningless bowl game.
When LSU lost to the USC Trojans in Week One, it left them with little to no wiggle room for the rest of the season in order to make the College Football Playoff. The Tigers still have tough opponents all over the schedule and losing more than one more game may eliminate the Tigers from the Playoff hunt.
LSU's argument against other top teams competing for the College Football Playoff took a massive blow today. The USC Trojans lost to a Michigan Wolverines team that nearly everyone in America wrote off after their showing against Texas.
The craziest part of Michigan's win is the fact that they won with just 32 yards passing compared to USC's 283 yards. The Wolverines beat USC the way every LSU Football fan was hoping the Tigers would beat USC, by pushing USC around.
The Wolverines rushed the ball 46 times for 290 yards and three touchdowns picking up 6.3 yards per carry. When the Tigers faced off against USC, they picked up just 4.5 yards per carry which was heavily inflated by a massive run from John Emery Jr.
On defense, the Wolverines recorded two sacks and eight tackles for a loss, when LSU played USC, they managed just two sacks and seven tackles for a loss. Michigan also was able to force Miller Moss into making a massive mistake as Will Johnson baited Moss and took his pass 43 yards for a pick-six.
Michigan entered the day ranked 18th and with their massive win over USC they'll certainly jump LSU in the AP Poll and Coaches poll providing another obstacle for LSU to overcome.
