LSU Women's Basketball star Angel Reese has been selected by the Chicago Sky 7th overall in the 2024 WNBA Draft. After two dominant seasons after transferring to LSU Reese makes her official move to the WNBA. The Sky were seemingly targeting Reese trading up one spot in the draft with the Minnesota Lynx.

Reese was dominant for LSU in 2023 helping the Tigers win a National Championship scoring 23 points per game while grabbing an astonishing 15.4 rebounds per game. Along her run to the championship, Reese picked up massive awards including NCAA Tournament Most Outstanding Player, First Team All-American honors, First-Team All-SEC, and First Team All-SEC Defensive honors.

Despite 2024 being a step down, it was still a massive success for Reese who scored 18.6 points per game with 13.4 rebounds per game. For her performance, Reese picked up the SEC Player of the Year Award, First Team All-American Honors, First Team All-SEC Honors, and First Team All-SEC defensive honors.

The Sky are in the midst of a rebuild after trading away leading scorer Kahleah Copper for a package centered around the third pick in the draft. Reese joins third overall pick and SEC rival Kamilla Cardoso in helping turn around the Sky as they'll have two of the best defenders in College Basketball.

Angel Reese a part of a group that can grow the WNBA

This year's WNBA Draft class has a chance to truly grow the WNBA with the top-end talent in the class. The class with players like Caitlin Clark and Angel Reese helped College Basketball reach unbelievable viewership heights and they'll look to do so in the WNBA. Women's basketball is on the rise and will only continue to do so as true stars enter the professional ranks. Reese landing in a big market like Chicago will be incredible for her career and she should continue to see her brand build up.
