LSU Tigers in the NFL: Former Tigers look to make rosters following preseason finale
This weekend was the final weekend of the NFL Preseason and the week is played much differently than it has been in the past. The starters mostly spend the game on the sideline while players fight it out for the final spots on the roster. The LSU Tigers had players all over nearly every game with a few having standout performances.
Cincinnati Bengals Vs Indianapolis Colts
The Bengals starters had the night off meaning we didn't get to see Joe Burrow while Ja'Marr Chase continues to sit out as he seeks a contract extension. The only former Tiger in action was running back Noah Cain who entered the night with a chance to earn a roster spot but, he carried the ball just three times rushing for three yards.
Kansas City Chiefs Vs Chicago Bears
The Chiefs sat most of their important players so we didn't get to see Clyde Edwards-Helaire. Neil Farrell didn't receive much time either which could be concerning as he's on the roster bubble. For the Bears, Micah Baskerville continues his impressive stretch recording five tackles and a pass deflection.
Jacksonville Jaguars Vs Atlanta Falcons
The Jaguars played their starters briefly but, this game was carried by the reserves for the most part. Brian Thomas Jr continues to make big plays as he hauled in a 38 yard pass before his day was finished. Maason Smith recorded two tackles while Jordan Jefferson recorded a tackle. Smith's stats won't jump off the page this preseason but, Smith led all rookie defensive linemen with a 20.8% pass rush win rate.
Carolina Panthers Vs Buffalo Bills
Early on, it was rumored that Terrace Marshall Jr was a potential cut candidate, that is no longer the case as he continues to flash. Marshall Jr finished the preseason finale with 3 catches for 39 yards and a touchdown. K'Lavon Chaisson didn't record any stats but, he nearly made an incredible interception.
Deion Jones only recorded one tackle for the Bills and was cut on Sunday but, he should find a new home rather quickly.
Detroit Lions vs Pittsburgh Steelers
Jaray Jenkins was a player to watch for the Steelers this game as he looks to make the team, he hauled in one pass for 17 yards and made an impressive catch on a play that was called back he also recorded a tackle. Patrick Queen added a tackle while Mekhi Wingo recorded two tackles for the Lions.
Minnesota Vikings vs Philadelphia Eagles
Justin Jefferson didn't appear in the game but, he did make an impressive catch in warmups making us so excited to see him in two weeks. In the game, Tyrion Davis-Price made his best pitch to make the Eagles roster rushing for 56 yards on 12 carries. Andre Sam impressed as well recording six tackles as he's pushing for a roster spot. On the Vikings side, Jay Ward recorded four tackles while Jaquelin Roy added recorded a tackle.
Houston Texans Vs Los Angeles Rams
The biggest storyline out of this game was Omar Speights having the night off as the Rams declared they'll be counting on Speights this season. In the game, Jacob Phillips recorded three tackles while Ali Gaye recorded a tackle.
Los Angeles Chargers Vs Dallas Cowboys
Pushing for a roster spot on the Cowboys is Racey McMath who recorded two catches for 26 yards and a tackle.
New York Giants Vs New York Jets
The majority of the players you'd hope to watch in this game sat out as teams prepare for the regular season. Ovie Oghoufo suffered an injury and missed most of this game which hurts as he'll likely be cut this week.
Tennessee Titans Vs New Orleans Saints
For the Titans, Jamal Adams and Arden Key were held out of the game, Key was dealing with a minor injury this week but, he's had a great camp. Foster Moreau and Tyrann Mathieu sat out as well on the Saints side as both are expected to play big roles this season.
Washington Commanders Vs New England Patriots
Jayden Daniels is the starting quarterback in Washington this season and he got to spend the game on the sideline but, he did look awesome in the Commanders' new black uniforms. Kayshon Boutte was a player to watch as he's on the roster bubble and he was kept out of the box score which is a concern. The recently traded Cade York went 2 for 2 on field goals and made a pair of extra points.
