Sports Illustrated releases its SI Power List every year and it's an incredible read as it dives into the Fifty Most influential figures in Sports. The 2024 SI Power list was released on Wednesday and to no ones surprise, the list was littered with current and former LSU stars. Make sure to give the full list a read as its an excellant deep dive into sports and the athletes we all watch on a daily basis.

Angel Reese made the list as one of the first athletes mentioned. Sports Illustrated notes her incredible feats on the court such as her double-double streak and her back to back games with 20 rebounds which was last achieved in Professional Basketball by Shaquille O'Neal. Her business acumen off the court was touched on as well as she's launched a podcast and signed impressive endorsement deals with Reese's and Reebok with a signature shoe on the Horizon

Paul Skenes was next up on the list as he continues an impressive year of accomplishments since leaving LSU. Not only does Skenes average near the top of all pitchers in the MLB with his velocity but, his devastating splinker is going to be a pitch we'll see Major Leaguers trying to figure out this off-season. Before Skenes arrival, the Pirates fans had little to look forward towards but, with Skenes and Jared Jones in their rotation the Pirates may return to playoff contention in the near future.

You know a school is one of the best at producing talent when most of the list is individual players but, LSU has a section titled "LSU Tigers Talent College Athletes turned Stars". There were too many Tigers to leave off the list yet too many to give their own spots so LSU got its own special shoutout. Armando Duplantis, Sha'Carri Richardson, Justin Jefferson, Ja'Marr Chase, Joe Burrow, Jayden Daniels, Malik Nabers, and Brian Thomas Jr were all specifically named.

LSU Women's Basketball star Flau'jae Johnson was the final LSU Tiger to make the top fifty list as an influencer. Not only is Johnson a force on the court recording 14.9 points per game but, off the court she's building an incredible brand. As a rapper, Johnson made it onto Television Shows America's Got Talent and The Rap Game. She also has a deal signed with Jay-Z's Roc Nation as she continues building her brand off the court.

The year of the Tiger

While the 2023 Chinese Zodiac Calendar listed 2023 as the year of the Water Rabbit, 2023 was certainly the year of the LSU Tigers. LSU won National Championships in Baseball and Women's Basketball while Dylan Crews brought home the Golden Spikes and Jayden Daniels won the Heisman. Paul Skenes was the MLB's First Overall pick while Flau'jae Johnson and Livvy Dunne continue to build incredible brands outside of sports. Add in the success of LSU's NFL Stars, NBA Stars, LSU's Olympians, and Angel Reese and it would be hard to find a school with more success than LSU.
