LSU Tigers weekend recap: Baseball and women's basketball teams pick up big wins

LSU women's basketball wins a big road game in Knoxville
The LSU women's basketball team showed no signs of slowing down as they creep toward the SEC tournament. The Tigers went into Knoxville and took down Tennessee 75-60.
Guard Hailey Van Lith was brilliant, converting nine-of-18 field goals and all free throws for 26 points. The Louisville transfer was also four-from-five in 3 point tries. Superstar forward Angel Reese also had another big game.
Reese played 38 minutes in which she scored 11 points and snagged 15 rebounds. The performance marked the junior's 18th double-double of the season and pushed her past 2,000 career points.
Freshman guard Mikaylah Williams also played very well, scoring 15 points and contributing five assists in 29 minutes.
Kim Mulkey’s team held a convincing 38-26 lead at halftime. The Lady Vols stormed back, outscoring LSU 19-10 in the third quarter. However, the Tigers’ picked up the defensive pace halfway through the fourth quarter and played like a squad that will make a run at defending their women’s college basketball national championship in March.
Sunday marked the Tigers’ sixth-straight win, moving them to 20-4 (11-3 SEC) on the season. Up next is for Mulkey’s team is a Thursday night road game against Georgia.
