Matt McMahon and LSU Basketball hire new associate head coach
The LSU Basketball team has hired a new associate head coach hiring former Sacramento State head coach David Patrick. The hiring marks the second stint in Baton Rouge for Patrick as he served as an assistant coach from 2012-206. His time in Baton Rouge was most notable for being the godfather of Ben Simmons helping LSU land the star.
During his time in college basketball, Patrick has coached at Nicholls State, St Mary's, LSU, TCU, and Oklahoma as an assistant while also serving as the head coach of UC Riverside and Sacremento State.
In David Patrick, LSU is landing one of the Nation's best recruiters and a great developer of talent. In 2015, Patrick was massive in landing LSU three top-40 recruits with Ben Simmons, Antonio Blakeney, and Brandon Sampson.
Matt McMahon spoke on the hiring saying the following:
"I love Coach Patrick’s investment in player development and in building relationships. He has recruited and helped to develop multiple NBA Draft picks throughout his career. I look forward to the new ideas, solutions, and energy he will bring to our program. We can’t wait to get started this summer."

Massive Hiring for LSU in recruiting top talent
The hiring of David Patrick will be massive for LSU in both landing the most elite talent and in developing them into superstars. Everywhere Patrick has gone he's helped programs build from solid recruiting classes while also impressing as a head coach with Sacramento State. The LSU Tigers have a loaded freshman class coming in and if Patrick can help develop them LSU will be a serious contender in the SEC.
