Matt McMahon brings back LSU Alum as an Assistant Coach
The LSU Basketball program and Matt McMahon have brought back former LSU basketball player Jalen Courtney-Williams as a member of the coaching staff. During his time at LSU Courtney-Williams played in 61 games before transferring to Morehead State.
During his time as a coach, Courtney-Williams has coached at McNeese State and Mississippi State before his latest stop at Creighton. He's been a massive part of success while at Creighton as the team made the NCAA Tournament in each of his three years as an assistant including this year's run to the Sweet 16.
Matt McMahon spoke on the hiring saying the following:
"We are thrilled to welcome Jalen Courtney-Williams and his family back to LSU. He is a star in the profession with an elite ability to build relationships, recruit high-level players, teach the game, and impact winning. He has a passion for LSU and we are looking forward to the new energy and ideas he will bring to our program."

While on the surface the move may not be that exciting it's certainly a smart move. The LSU basketball program adds someone to the staff that is familiar with playing for the program and has a deep passion for LSU that will shine through on the court and on the recruiting trail.
Courtney-Williams has experience developing LSU's biggest need
The glaring need on this LSU Basketball roster is at the center position as Will Baker departs the program. Jalen Courtney-Williams has a deep experience in developing big men while at McNeese State helping Sha'Markus Kennedy win the conference's Defensive Player of the Year award. If Courtney-Williams and the coaching staff can help develop big men this LSU basketball roster will be one of the most complete rosters we've seen in recent years. The LSU Basketball program is doing all the right things in recent years giving plenty of reasons to be optimistic.
