Michigan stubbornness could save LSU from losing its top commit

As things currently stand, LSU has the nation's third ranked recruiting class only trailing Ohio State and Alabama. The LSU Football teams class is heavily boosted by the fact that the Tigers have the Nation's top quarterback and top player in the class on board in Bryce Underwood. Landing a top quarterback is the priority for most schools and Underwood has been a massive asset for LSU.

While schools have come calling, Underwood has stuck with LSU and hasn't visited any other schools since he has committed. It would be shocking if Underwood flipped from LSU but, nothing is truly shocking in the current landscape of College Football.

If any school would have a shot at flipping Underwood it would be the in-state Michigan Wolverines. If Michigan truly wanted to make a run at Bryce Underwood it could have a more compelling case.

Barstool Sports founder and Michigan Alum Dave Portnoy announced on his College Football Podcast Barstool Pick Em that he'd be willing to pay upwards of $3,000,000 if it meant that he could pick a top quarterback for the Wolverines.

Now Bryce Underwood has stated that NIL isn't that big of a deal but, a number like Portnoy is eye opening. Quarterbacks like Jalen Milroe, Quinn Ewers, Jaxson Dart, Cam Ward, Carson Beck, and Garrett Nussmeier all have NIL valuations far below 3 million dollars.

The reason LSU really doesn't have to worry about this being an issue is simply stubbornness. While the money would be a massive boost for Michigan's NIL dealings, the program likely wouldn't want to hand over the control like Portnoy is asking for. Even if Portnoy were to pony up the money, LSU would likely swiftly up the offer to keep its signing class intact.
