Notable recruits with LSU in it's commitment finalists
Brian Kelly and LSU Football are currently looking to bring in a historic recruiting class as the 2025 recruiting class ranks second in the Nation with three of the top offensive players in the class. The Tigers success has started with keeping talent in the state as they've landed commitments from seven of the top ten players in the state with their eyes on an eighth member of that group. There are several top prospects still in play for the Tigers as well with LSU named as finalists in their recruitment.
James Simon - Four Star - Running Back
The LSU Tigers are one of the final seven schools for in-state star James Simon and are heavily expected to keep the Shreveport Native in Louisiana. Simon ranks as the eighth-best running back in the class and the fourth-ranked player in the state of Louisiana. Simon would join in-state running backs Harlem Berry and JT Lindsey in a loaded class should he commit to LSU. The State Championship MVP would be a massive get for Brian Kelly and this staff and as things stand they're at the forefront.
DaSaahn Brame - Four Star - Tight End
LSU landing Da'Saahn Brame would make an incredible recruiting class even better as the team would have a recruit in the top three at every position on offense except offensive tackle. Brame currently appears headed to Oregon but, LSU has made up some ground since offering Brame early on in February. If Brame commits to Oregon early on, I would expect that LSU continues it's fight up until signing day.
Damien Shanklin - Four Star - Edge Rusher
The LSU Tigers hosted the top recruit in Indiana this past weekend for the Spring Game as they continue to push for the top-ten edge rusher. As things currently stand, it appears that Notre Dame is in the driver's seat. Shanklin did spend time with Bryce Underwood who's been recruiting hard for other top players to join him so it wouldn't be a shock if LSU made a push.
Micah DeBose - Four Star - Offensive Tackle
The Four-Star offensive lineman out of Alabama appears to be a likely get for Brian Kelly and the LSU staff. Both On3 and 24/7 Sports predict that Micah DeBose will pick the Tigers when it becomes time for him to pick his school. Landing DeBose would give LSU the top-ranked quarterback, wide receiver, running back, and two of the top ten interior offensive linemen in the class. It seems that LSU will have to fend of the in-state contenders Alabama and Auburn for DeBose but, the Tigers are in the best spot as things stand.
Andrew Maddox - Four Star - Defensive Lineman
One of the top defensive tackles in the class, Andrew Maddox is another player that will be a top priority for LSU in this cycle. Maddox is currently expected to stay home and attend Ole Miss however, Bo Davis has been building a relationship and could end up bringing Maddox to LSU. Brian Kelly and his coaching staff can also tell Maddox to watch the NFL Draft as Maason Smith, Jordan Jefferson, and Mekhi Wingo all go from LSU to the NFL at Maddox's position.
Elijah Griffin - Five Star - Defensive Line
The LSU Tigers are still in play for the Nation's fourth-ranked recruit and the top defensive tackle in the class. Griffin hasn't set his official visits yet, but LSU should and will most likely get a look especially as the team has a need at defensive tackle. Landing Griffin would give the Tigers an incredible boost defensively as they look to build out this class on the defensive side of the football. The LSU coaching staff will need to do a ton to beat out the hometown Georgia Bulldogs but, expect LSU to stick around until the moment he signs his letter of intent.
CJ Wiley - Four Star - Wide Receiver
LSU is certainly in play for Milton, Georgia native CJ Wiley a four-star recruit in the 2025 recruiting class. The Wiley name will certainly ring a bell as CJ is the son of LSU Alum two-time All-SEC defensive lineman Chuck Wiley. Wiley is ranked as the 28th wide receiver in the class and the 31st-ranked prospect out of Georgia coming off of a massive 1,473 yards and 14 touchdowns in his Junior season. Playing with top quarterback recruit and LSU commit Bryce Underwood will be very attractive for Wiley and could be massive in LSU's pursuit.
DJ Pickett - Five Star - Cornerback
DJ Pickett ranks as the nation's eighth-ranked player according to 24/7 Sports as the 3rd ranked corner while he ranks as the top safety according to On3. Pickett has LSU as one of his five finalists and will take an official visit on May 31st as LSU continues it's push for Pickett. Recruiting experts have this as a three-horse race between Miami, LSU, and Georgia but, this historic LSU class may give Pickett the best chance to win a National Championship.
LSU Football chasing the top recruiting class
After the adjustment to recruiting ratings the LSU Tigers currently hold the nation's second-ranked recruiting class behind Ohio State for only fractions of points. The Buckeyes have an advantage with one extra recruit while the Tigers have the overall better ranked recruits right now. The Tigers will continue to push hard to finish with the overall top spot in recruiting as they continue to attract some of the Nation's top talent to Baton Rouge while keeping elite talent in State.
