This weekend looked like a great weekend to go apple picking as there was just one ranked versus ranked matchup on the slate. This weekend ended up being one of the most memorable weekends we'll have all season as we saw upsets all over the weekend slate. These losses will have a massive effect on the College Football Playoff race as most of these upsets happened in Conference Play.

In back-to-back weeks, the Alabama Crimson Tide will be the biggest story for the two most different reasons. As we continue to learn more and more about every team its starting to become clearer who will be in the College Football Playoff.

After the weekend of upsets, here is how we project that the College Football Playoff picture will unfold.

The Ohio State Buckeyes continue to be the team that has the best chance of ending the season undefeated as the Big Ten has looked shaky around them. The Texas Longhorns on the bye week regain their claim as the front-runner to win the SEC but, Oklahoma lies ahead. The Miami Hurricanes remain the front-runner to win the ACC even as they try everything they can to lose every weekend. The BYU Cougars remain the most underappreciated team in the Big 12, and they'll get to avoid Iowa State unless they meet in the Conference title game.

Despite losing to Vanderbilt, Alabama remains in the race as they have a lighter schedule than most of the teams in the country. Georgia slides up right behind the Tide to sixth as a benefactor of Tennessee's loss.

It seems like James Franklin has finally found a competent offensive coordinator and his Nittany Lions continue to steamroll their opponents. This weekend should be Penn State's first test as they take on USC but, after their loss to Minnesota, Penn State should roll them.

Clemson may not be a great team but, they'll finish as a top ten seed in the College Football Playoff thanks to a lighter schedule. The Tigers have just one ranked opponent left on their schedule in Pitt and they won't have to face Miami until the ACC Title game.

Oregon hasn't looked perfect yet, but they're building momentum before clashing with Ohio State this weekend. Notre Dame gets a bump on the bye week especially as their win over Texas A&M continues to look like a massive win.

Our last team in is the LSU Football team but, there is a ton of competition for this final at large bid. The Tigers still have games against Ole Miss, Alabama, Oklahoma, and Texas A&M with three of four being played in Tiger Stadium. No team will have more chances to earn a signature win which gives LSU a great shot at the playoff.

UNLV lost to Syracuse on Friday Night, drawing them even in the loss column with Boise State. We give Boise State the edge here especially as they may have the Heisman winner in their backfield in Ashton Jeanty. UNLV and Boise State's matchup in the end of October will determine who gets the final spot in the Playoff.

The Week to Come in College Football

While this weeks slate wasn't that great on paper, we are getting one of the best slates of the season this upcoming weekend. We'll get the first Red River Rivalry game with the two teams in the SEC which will be a massive game. Oregon and Ohio State are getting the College Gameday treatment and the winner will have the inside track at winning the Big Ten. LSU will host Ole Miss with the winner putting themselves right back into the race in the SEC. Penn State gets its first tough matchup of the season as they take on USC. West Virginia will look to end Iowa State's Cinderella run at winning the Big 12.
