Defensive End/Jack:

Starters

Sai'Vion Jones

Bradyn Swinson

Back-Ups

Paris Shand

Da'Shawn Womack

Third String

Gabe Reliford

Dylan Carpenter

Defensive Tackle:

Starters

Jacobian Guillory

Gio Paez

Back-Ups

Jay'Viar Suggs

Jalen Lee

Third String

Shone Washington

Dominick McKinley

At defensive tackle, the LSU Football team still has a ton of questions even as camp winds down. Outside of Guillory and Paez, no one has stood out which could be a concern but, Bo Davis will get the most out of this group.

Middle Linebacker:

Starter

Greg Penn III

Senior

Back-Up

West Weeks

Senior

Third String

Dahvon Keys

Freshman

The Tigers would feel comfortable with any of these three players starting in 2024 but, Penn will start and don the number 18. Look out for the future as Dahvon Keys has impressed in camp and looks like a serious piece for this team.

Will Linebacker:

Starter

Harold Perkins

Junior

Back-Up

Whit Weeks

Sophomore

Third String

Tylen Singleton

Freshman

The Tigers have a duo of linebackers in Harold Perkins and Whit Weeks that will likely find their way onto the field at the same time as they're just too talented. When Blake Baker lets Harold Perkins put his hand in the dirt, expect Weeks at the traditional linebacker role.

Cornerback:

Starters

Sage Ryan

Ashton Stamps

Back-Ups

PJ Woodland

JK Johnson

Third String

Javien Toviano

Zy Alexander

It comes as a surprise that Sage Ryan is playing cornerback as many expected he'd return to his natural position at safety. The Tigers will feel much better as Ashton Stamps has emerged as a true top cornerback and could be the key piece to the LSU defense's turnaround.

Safety:

Starters

Jardin Gilbert

Jordan Allen

Back-Ups

Dashawn Spears

Kylin Jackson

Third String

Joel Rogers

Austin Ausberry

The starters better perform as LSU has some incredible young depth at the position. Dashawn Spears and Kylin Jackson have been two of the best players in camp and could easily find their way into starting roles in 2024.

Star:

Starter

Major Burns

Redshirt Junior

Back-Up

Kylin Jackson

Redshirt Freshman

Third String

Ju'Juan Johnson

Freshman

As the Veteran, Major Burns will get the first go around but, given Jackson's impressive camp, Jackson may be too talented to keep off the field.

On defense, these are the groupings we've seen just about the entire summer and should be the rotation come the start of the season. The Edge Rushers have been incredible this Summer which provides another reason to feel optimistic in 2024. The two players to watch are Dashawn Spears and Kylin Jackson as the young guys have been pushing for starting reps.
