SEC Baseball Tournament is released with LSU set as the 11th seed
The LSU Baseball team did exactly what they needed to do picking up a sweep against Ole Miss to put themselves back into the conversation for the NCAA Tournament. The Tigers now rank 30th in the college baseball RPI Rankings making the tournament a serious possibility.
Heading into the SEC Tournament the LSU baseball team will be an eleven seed taking on the Georgia Bulldogs. The Bulldogs are ranked 6th in the college baseball RPI so a win over the Bulldogs would be massive for LSU baseball's resume. If LSU Beats Georgia they'll face Kentucky in a matchup that could be win and in for the Tigers.
The Tigers haven't faced off against either Georgia or Kentucky yet this season with a first potential rematch coming on Thursday.
The Tigers desperately need to add some wins to their resume otherwise Selection Sunday will be nerve wracking. The Tiger currently ranks 30th in the RPI, with the 25th strength of schedule, 6 quad one wins, and 12 quad two wins.
Jay Johnson advocated for the Tigers making the NCAA Tournament saying the following:
"There's no doubt we're one of the top 10-15 teams in college baseball. That's not even debatable."
- Jay Johnson
Keep on pushing forward in May
The LSU Baseball team has truly turned it's season around over the past five weeks winning four of it's last five series with some series coming against some of the Nation's better teams. Now with opponents like Georgia and Kentucky waiting in the wings, LSU needs to continue to keep pushing forward to ensure an NCAA Tournament birth. The LSU Baseball team has some of the better pitchers in the country with enough firepower on offense to beat any team in the country. This team has enough talent that they just need to make it to the dance and they could go on a serious run.
