Ten Underclassmen to watch for LSU Football vs Nicholls State
Gabe Reliford - Defensive Line
The spring game showed how much promise Reliford has as he was constantly in the quarterback's face as a pass rusher. The Tigers have a need for defensive linemen that can give them consistent results on a down to down basis and the next few weeks will likely be an audtion. Don't be surprised if we see extended playing time for LSU's younger defensive linemen so the coaching staff gets game film on everyone.
Dominick McKinley - Defensive Tackle
The LSU Football team's top signee was set back compared to other defensive tackles as he wasn't one of the early enrollees. The Tigers will certainly get McKinley onto the field on Saturday to get his feet wet at the College level. Developing McKinley over the next few weeks will be important as the Tigers could use a player of his talent level in the rotation at defensive tackle.
Kylin Jackson - Star
Jackson saw playing time against USC but, it was limited as he only came on in the dime package. Kylin Jackson was one of the stars of camp and he'll continue to push Major Burns for playing time at the star position throughout the season. Getting Jackson more experience has to be a top priority for this team before they face top passing attacks like Ole Miss and Alabama later in the season.
Jelani Watkins, Shelton Sampson, and Kylan Billiot - Wide Receiver
The LSU Football team has a ton of talent at wide receiver so none of these players are fighting for starting jobs but, it'll still be fun to see what LSU has in the pipeline at receiver. Jelani Watkins is a player that could become a deep threat for this team as he possesses true track speed. Billiot brings more size at 6 foot 3 and in the same light is a piece this team will lean on heavily next year. Finally, there's Shelton Sampson who's appeared in three games but, hasn't caught a pass. Sampson has more experience and could be a player LSU will lean on if there's injuries so it'll be nice if the Tigers get him the ball.
Ahmad Breaux - Defensive Line
Ahmad Breaux is another one of these younger defensive linemen that this LSU football team is going to need to develop quickly as the Tigers lack experienced depth. Breaux already saw game action against the USC Trojans and since the Tigers shouldn't have to worry too much in this game we'll likely see a ton more of him this week.
