The Bengals need to end Ja'Marr Chase's holdout with a contract extension
We're heading into the final week of the preseason in the NFL and for most teams, they've gotten a full feel for their roster before they head into the season. That is unless your team is one of the teams that is dealing with a holdout over contract issues like the 49ers and Brandon Aiyuk, the Cowboys and Ceedee Lamb, and the Bengals with Ja'Marr Chase.
The former LSU star hasn't been practicing with the team as he seeks a much deserved long term extension. Chase is coming off of another impressive season despite Joe Burrow missing serious time with injury, recording 100 catches for 1,216 yards and 7 touchdowns.
The deal has reportedly taken long to figure out as Chase still has a year and his fifth year option remaining on his rookie contract.
When asked if he thought Ja'Marr would play without a new deal, former Bengals wide receiver Chad Ochocinco said the following:
"No. Absolutely not. He is not touching the field. I don't think Mike would do that and I don't think that Joe Burrow would allow Mike to do that. You understand how important JaMarr Chase is to the success of Bengals especially if we're serious about getting back to the Super Bowl."

Adam Schefter spoke on the current situation on the Pat McAfee show saying the following:
"The Ja'Marr Chase situation is a little more complicated than others because he has more time on his deal. We don't know exactly what he's thinking but, I'm going to assume that he's not real happy with the way things are going."

The Bengals thought process is incredibly odd here
Extending Ja'Marr Chase is an absolute no brainer which makes this saga incredibly dumb by the Bengals. The main sentiment is that he has two years left but, do the Bengals think something is going to drastically change in his game over the next two seasons? The Bengals are a ture Super Bowl contender and Chase missing even a few games could derail the season which makes it too risky to mess around with.
