The LSU Football team currently holds the Nation's fifth ranked recruiting class which holds 15 commitments 14 of which are four-stars or better according to On3's industry rankings. The Tigers are in many ways now at a make or break point of the recruiting season as the majority of the Nation's top recruits have committed to schools with a few picking in the weeks to come

Starting on Saturday the LSU Football program will go through a week where five of their biggest remaining recruiting targets will announce their commitments. This week starts with the commitments of Derek Meadows, Phillip Wright, and Jhase Thomas on Saturday.

Meadows is the biggest target for LSU of the trio as the 40th-ranked recruit and the 7th-ranked receiver in the class according to On3's industry rankings. This was long seen as Notre Dame's recruitment to lose but, now it seems like a real toss-up between Notre Dame, LSU, and Alabama. Landing Derek Meadows would be massive as the Tigers would add another receiver alongside four-star LSU commit TaRon Francis.

Phillip Wright is a three-star in-state wide receiver who will ultimately decide between Georgia, LSU, and Michigan. The Wolverines are the presumed favorites in this recruitment but, we're still a long way from National Signing Day. If LSU doesn't land Wright on Saturday they'll continue to push hard for Wright prior to Signing Day especially if they miss out on five-star targets like Derek Meadows, Jaime Ffrench, and Kaliq Lockett.

Jhase Thomas is the final recruit committing on Saturday and also the high school teammate of Phillip Wright. Jhase Thomas is a four-star recruit according to On3 as the nation's 270th-ranked player and the 22nd-ranked safety in the class. The LSU Football team currently holds no commitments from defensive backs which makes landing Thomas massive along with the help he may provide in landing Phillip Wright.

Wednesday, June 17th will see one of the Nation's most coveted recruits DJ Pickett announce his commitment. Pickett will choose between the Oregon Ducks, LSU Tigers, and the in-state Miami Hurricanes. The LSU Tigers were seen as the early favorites to land Pickett but, the red-hot Oregon Ducks have picked up momentum and may be the new front-runner for Pickett. Landing DJ Pickett would give LSU the top offensive and defensive recruit and would be a massive step towards bringing back "DBU".

Finally, on Saturday, June 20th will see former LSU commit Jaboree Antoine announce his commitment less than a month after he de-committed from LSU. According to the On3 Industry Rankings, Antoine is the 84th-ranked player in the class and the 2nd-ranked player from Louisiana. Getting Antoine back on board would be massive for LSU as the Tigers don't have any commitments from defensive backs.

A massive week for LSU Football's two biggest recruiting needs

When looking at this recruiting class, the two biggest needs for LSU are wide receiver and defensive back. This week could instantly change that while helping LSU's recruiting class quickly rise up the recruiting rankings as their class has fallen from second to fifth. There is already a ton of pressure on Corey Raymond due to LSU's early struggles recruiting but, a solid this week would calm most of the fan base down.
