The LSU Basketball team picked up what may be its starting guard tandem for the 2024-25 season in the transfer portal with Kansas State transfer Cam Carter and UT Martin transfer Jordan Sears. Cam Carter was a part of Kansas State's run to the Elite Eight in 2022-23 before having a career year in 2023-24 scoring 14.6 points per game with 5 rebounds and 2.6 assists per game. Jordan Sears has been a dominant scorer over two seasons at UT Martin after starting his career at Gardner Webb scoring 21.6 points per game with nearly five rebounds and assists per game.

The LSU Basketball team will have no shortage of talent at the guard position as they bring in two four-star recruits in Vyctorious Miller and Curtis Givens III. What Sears and Carter give LSU is experience early on as both can start for the Tigers while the freshmen get their feet wet with the size and speed of SEC Basketball.

Sears will give the team an elite three-level scorer despite being a small guard at 5"11. This past season, Sears was a 43.2% shooter while also shooting 43.2% from three and 83% from the free throw line. Don't let Sears' size fool you either as he can climb the ladder for exciting finishes.

Cam Carter heading to LSU is a local kid coming home as the Donaldsonville Native heads to Baton Rouge. Carter will bring versatility to the lineup playing both shooting guard and small forward during his time at Kansas State. While he's not the marksman that Sears is Carter is still a solid 30% three-point shooter while shooting 39.1% from the field. His defensive ability will be a solid fit as well coming off of a career-high 1.4 steals per game.

The LSU Basketball starting lineup will be one of the most experienced groups in the conference at the start of the season. The team will return two key pieces with experience in Tyrell Ward and Jalen Reed while adding the years of experience with Carter and Sears. The veteran leadership should make integrating the Freshman class much easier taking a lot of the pressure off the younger players early on.

LSU Basketball just needs a center

The biggest need right now for Matt McMahon's group in the transfer portal now is down low as the group desperately needs a center. Will Baker started this season at center as a graduate transfer but, the LSU Tigers will now need to replace him. Matt McMahon has reached out to former LSU big man Bradley Ezewiro who's back in the transfer portal after a season at Georgetown and a season at St Louis. If Matt McMahon can add an experienced center this LSU team will be a serious contender in the SEC surprising many.
