The LSU Football team is slowly creeping back up into the Playoff Race
After dropping the season opener to the USC Trojans, it has been a slow climb for the LSU Football team as they try to claw their way back into the Playoff picture. There won't be too much of a change in LSU's chances to make the College Football Playoff unless the Tigers knock off a true playoff contender in the SEC like Ole Miss.
Entering the week, the LSU Football team was given just a 5.8% chance of making the College Football Playoff according to ESPN's College Football Power Index. After knocking off UCLA, the Tigers now have a 7% chance of making the College Football Playoff.
The weekend could've been much better for LSU if USC was able to knock off Michigan and if Vanderbilt could've knocked off Missouri but, neither game went LSU's way hurting them in the at-large bid race.
The league LSU will be rooting against the most right now is the Big 12 as it'll need to be a one bid conference. Currently, UCF has a 33.8% chance, Utah has a 27.1% chance, Iowa State has a 15.8% chance, and BYU has a 12% chance while the rest of the conference is still alive for the most part.
LSU can take another big jump before facing Ole Miss
If LSU can handle business against South Alabama, they could approach a 10% chance before they even face Ole Miss. This weekend, Alabama (83.2%) or Georgia (70.7%) will take a big hit as will Louisville (31.6%) or Notre Dame (35.9%). Penn State (58.6%) losing to Illinois (9.1%) would really open things up in the at-large race. The following week while LSU is on a bye could be a week of chaos as teams ranked 2nd through 7th, and most of the teams ranked from 10th to 20th will all play conference games where you may see an upset.
