7. TCU at Stanford

The Horned Frogs were a let down last season after appearing in the National Championship. TCU has rebuilt its offensive line and defensive front seven in the transfer portal while they’ll have some experience at the skill positions. The Cardinals return a majority of their starters while Ashton Daniels will excite at Quarterback.

6. Penn State at West Virginia

The team that has gotten the most hope with the expanded college football playoff is Penn State as they seemingly finish in the top twelve every year after losing to Ohio State or Michigan. But, this opening game could be a massive trap for Penn State, especially heading to Morgantown. The Nittany Lions lost defensive coordinator Manny Diaz to Duke while Franklin brought in Kansas' Andy Kotelnicki to lead the offense. The coordinator change could take some time to reap its benefits which could spell trouble for Penn State early on.
