The unveiling of 2027 recruiting rankings show positive signs for LSU Football
We're a long ways from the National Signing Day for the 2025 recruiting class which will make it crazy when I mention 2027 recruiting rankings. 24/7 Sports unveiled their top 100 recruits in the 2027 recruiting class and while these players are heading into their Sophomore seasons there is a ton that looks promising for LSU.
The 2025 recruiting class has greatly benefitted from having the top overall recruit and top quarterback in Bryce Underwood. In 2027, LSU will have the inside track at landing the top quarterback and top overall recruit again in Baton Rouge native Elijah Haven. As a Freshman, Haven led the Dunham School to the District 6-2A Championship with 2,205 passing yards and a school record 35 touchdowns with just three interceptions. He's a dual threat quarterback as well rushing for another 641 yards and 12 touchdowns.
If LSU misses out on Haven, the good news is the fifth ranked quarterback in the class is a Louisiana Native in Malachi Zeigler. 24/7 Sports ranks Zeigler as the fifth ranked quarterback in the class and the 50th overall recruit so LSU will have two incredible quarterbacks to chose from.
The LSU Football team has had a stacked tight end room under Brian Kelly and they'll have a chance to keep that going with Ahmad Hudson. Hudson is ranked as the top tight end in the class and the 32nd ranked player overall. The Tigers have been in on Hudson for a long time offering him a scholarship before his freshman season.
The fourth and final recruit from Louisiana to crack the top 100 is Braylon Calais who plays at Cecilia. 24/7 Sports tabs him as the 90th ranked player in the country and as the 11th ranked athlete in the class. Calais doesn't have an offer yet but, Jake Olsen and Cortez Hankton will be fighting over whether he's a safety or a receiver in a few years.
The biggest out of state name to keep an eye on is Colton Nussmeier, the younger brother of LSU starter Garrett Nussmeier. Colton debuts as the 18th ranked player in the class and as the third ranked quarterback and you'd have to think if LSU wants Nussmeier they'll be the team to beat.
The other names to keep an eye on are Ethan Feaster the 2nd ranked receiver in the class who was in attendance at Bayou Splash. Caden Moss is the ninth ranked player in the class at offensive tackle and given LSU's recent history on the offensive line they'll be one of the top teams in the mix. George Toia is the brother of Siaki Ika who was a member of the 2019 National Championship team. Sage Ryan's younger brother Sky is also in this recruiting class if LSU is going to pursue him.
The Quarterbacks are massive for LSU
The LSU Football program is going to have an impossible time recruiting quarterbacks in the 2026 recruiting class given the fact that they'll sit behind Bryce Underwood for at least two seasons. The Tigers will likely prioritize the position again in the 2027 recruiting class and it plays out perfectly for LSU. The Tigers have two top 5 quarterbacks in-state and the brother of the current starter in the top 3 which gives LSU the pick of the litter. There's a ton of non-quarterback talent from Louisiana in 2026 and LSU can focus on landing those players rather than quarterbacks.
