These LSU football alums were invited to the 2024 NFL Scouting Combine

Last year, nine players from the LSU football program received invites to the NFL Scouting Combine, the league’s massive pre-draft event. This year, we will see eight former Tigers make the trip to Indianapolis.
Heisman Trophy winner Jayden Daniels headlines the list of LSU alums who received invites to the NFL’s premier pre-draft event.
Joining the quarterback are receivers Malik Nabers and Brian Thomas Jr., center Charles Turner III, defensive tackles Jordan Jefferson, Maason Smith, and Mekhi Wingo, and safety Andre Sam.
321 college prospects received invites to the multi-event that will include physicals, drills, and interviews with teams. Indeed, the NFL Scouting Combine is an opportunity for players to showcase their talents to pro scouts, coaches, and general managers. If all goes well, participants move up teams’ draft boards.
Unfortunately, not all draft-eligible former LSU football players will appear in Indianapolis. Noticeably missing from the list of invites is linebacker Omar Speights. Speights spent 2023 in Baton Rouge after four seasons at Oregon State. The 6-foot-1, 235-pound prospect underwhelmed with the Tigers, but injuries and an incompetent defensive scheme inhibited his production.
One of the biggest questions heading into the NFL Scout Combine is whether or not Jayden Daniels will throw. It has become common practice for the most significant quarterbacks in a draft class to bypass throwing for NFL teams until their college program’s pro day.
LSU football has scheduled its pro day for March 27 in Baton Rouge.
More critical for Daniels are the interviews he will complete with select NFL teams during the combine. Such is the first opportunity for the LSU graduate to connect with teams and demonstrate his mental ability to excel at the pro level.
LSU fans will want to tune into the NFL Network for full coverage of the NFL Scouting Combine from February 26 to March 4.
