The LSU Football team is in the midst of one of the craziest recruiting cycles ever as NIL has seemingly hit an early peak. Currently, the LSU Tigers hold the Nation's second-ranked recruiting class behind Ohio State but, teams behind LSU have made up some ground, landing commitments this summer. The Tigers however have put themselves in a great spot to land several players such as the following three players who are set to commit in the near future:

Ja'kayden Ferguson - Cornerback - June 21st

While a majority of the schools pursuing Ja'kayden Ferguson are looking for him to play wide receiver the LSU Football team is pursuing Ferguson as a cornerback. On3 ranks Ferguson as a wide receiver making him the 51st-best receiver while the industry ranks have him as the 613th-best player in the country. This weekend, Ferguson may have changed the LSU Football staff's mind with this incredible play:

The Tigers got into the race for Ferguson late, with Corey Raymond offering him a scholarship on May 1st. Where the Tigers will have a massive advantage is by getting the final visit in Ferguson's recruitment hosting him on the weekend that he'll commit. Corey Raymond seemingly loves Ferguson so regardless of his recruit ranking you have to feel confident with how Raymond can develop him into a top-tier cornerback.

Xavier Ukponu - Defensive Line - June 29th

One of the new coaches that's given LSU a massive boost on the recruiting trail is defensive line coach Bo Davis. One of the players that LSU is in a good position to land thanks to Bo Davis' Texas connections is defensive lineman Xavier Ukponu. The Texas Native is the Nation's 106th-ranked defensive tackle as a three-star recruit. While Ukponu may not seem like a big time prospect his offers speak for themself with offers from Texas, Oregon, Miami, Texas A&M, and USC among others.

Landing Xavier Ukponu would be a massive addition to this recruiting class as Brian Kelly looks to build out this class. The LSU Tigers dealt with issues this Spring due to a lack of depth at the defensive tackle position which makes adding depth a priority in this signing class. As we approach the June 29th commitment, LSU appears to be in the lead but, Oregon has a late visit before LSU's that could shift the tide.

Zion Williams - Defensive Line - July 4th

The final player on this list is ranked near the end as he has the latest commitment date but, Zion Williams may be the best of them all. Williams is a four-star recruit ranked as the Nation's 30th-ranked defensive lineman and the 357th player in the On3 industry rankings. This is another case of Bo Davis' pre-existing connections helping the LSU Tigers in a massive way. The Texas star has long standing ties with Bo Davis and this could be yet another massive pickup from Bo Davis.

After LSU's official visit this Summer put the Tigers at the top of Zion Williams's list as we near his commitment. Where LSU has been able to make a comeback in this race is with how Bo Davis has handled this recruitment making Zion Williams a top priority from the time Davis arrived on Campus. LSU appears to be the team to beat but, hometown Texas and TCU will continue to push until National Signing Day.
