Three former LSU Football Stars that deserve fresh starts in the NFL
Every season, we see multiple LSU Football stars head off to the NFL where it seems more often than not, they become stars. However, there are a few players that don't live up to the expectations whether its due to ability or to circumstances outside of their control. There are a few examples in the NFL of former LSU Tigers who would be best suited by landing on a new team as they've been dealt less than ideal hands.
It has only been one season in the NFL for Kayshon Boutte but, he deserves a start with a fresh team. Boutte was dropped into one of the worst offensive situations in the NFL as the Patriots rotated quarterbacks all season long. The Patriots have changed regimes and Boutte faces an uphill battle making a roster where the new regime has already drafted several receivers.
The dream landing spot for Boutte here would be either the Washington Commanders or the Los Angeles Chargers. Landing in Washington would reunite Boutte with Jayden Daniels while Daniels would get a familiar face to ease him into the NFL. Landing in Los Angeles would allow Boutte a path to serious playing time with one of the leagues best young quarterbacks.
When the Kansas City Chiefs drafted Clyde Edwards-Helaire it seemed like the perfect fit as the team replaced Kareem Hunt. He impressed as a rookie but, since his rookie season his playing time has dwindled with the Kansas City Chiefs. The Chiefs have continued to use several backs which has hurt Clyde especially with the emergence of Isiah Pacheco.
The dream landing spot for Edwards-Helaire would be either the New York Giants or the Cincinnati Bengals. The Giants parted ways with Saquon Barkley this off-season and lack a true second running back which could be the perfect role for him especially with a coach like Brian Daboll. The Bengals did the same thing with Joe Mixon this off-season and will be running back by committee however, reuniting with Joe Burrow and Ja'Marr Chase could get the most out of Clyde.
While Carolina Panthers fans will be quick to call Terrace Marshall Jr a bust its impossible to imagine a world where he could've succeeded. Throughout his time in the NFL, Marshall has had a rotating door at quarterback with Sam Darnold, Cam Newton, PJ Walker, Baker Mayfield, Jacob Eason, Andy Dalton, and Bryce Young all throwing him passes at points. This season Marshall will also be onto his fifth head coach in four seasons further pointing to the issues in Carolina.
The dream landing spot for Terrace Marshall is the Buffalo Bills which could happen close to the roster cutdown day. The move would reunite Marshall with offensive coordinator Joe Brady who led the LSU passing attack in 2019. The Bills parted ways with their two top receivers this offseason while Josh Allen would be leaps and bounds above what Marshall had in Carolina.
