The LSU Football team currently holds the Nation's third-ranked recruiting class trailing only Ohio State and Alabama. This class is headlined by the Nation's top quarterback, running back, and defensive back. The Tigers have surprisingly struggled with landing wide receivers which comes as a shock as LSU just sent two receivers into the First Round of the NFL Draft and the Tigers holding a commitment from Bryce Underwood.

The Tigers currently hold commitments from four-star receivers Derek Meadows and TaRon Francis as well as speedster Phillip Wright. The Tigers were in contention for five-star receivers Kaliq Lockett and Jaime Ffrench with both committing. Given the Tigers need for Wide Receivers as they may lose Kyren Lacy and CJ Daniels this season, the Tigers could still target these X receivers to fill out the class.

Jacob Washington - Michigan Commit

The Tigers have already flipped an in-state receiver committed to Michigan when they landed Phillip Wright. The next receiver LSU will likely eye is Jacob Washington who plays for Archbishop Shaw. Washington is already off to a great start with four catches for 63 yards and a touchdown in his first game of the season. The Tigers never made a strong push for Washington but, given how dominant LSU has been recruiting in-state, a strong push may be all it takes. Washington is ranked by On3 as the 34th ranked receiver in the country and the 246th ranked player overall.

Davian Jackson - Mississippi State Commit

The Mississippi State Bulldogs have come into Louisiana and landed two wide receivers which is a great approach by new head coach Jeff Lebby. The Tigers have likely seen Davian Jackson when they were scouting Jaboree Antoine and his Westgate team. Jackson is ranked by On3's industry recruiting rankings as the 893rd player in the class and the 140th receiver in the class. Jackson could be a similar target to Phillip Wright as he ran a 10.70 in the 100-meter dash.

Ferzell Shepard - Mississippi State commit

Shepard is another one of these in-state receivers that LSU will likely take another look at after missing out on the top half of the class. The Baton Rouge native is currently committed to Mississippi State. Shepard is ranked as the 535th-best player in the country and as the 20th-ranked athlete in the class according to On3's Industry recruiting rankings. At the College level Shepard will likely play wide receiver where he caught 37 passes for 719 yards and eight touchdowns last season at Scotlandville Magnet. If Shepard starts the season hot again, expect to see the Tigers take a second look at Shepard.

Don't be surprised if LSU pursues receiver in the transfer portal

The season hasn't even started yet but, if LSU misses out on a fourth receiver in this class, the LSU Football team will likely pursue a wide receiver in the transfer portal as they did this past season. CJ Daniels is a graduate, Kyren Lacy will likely head off to the NFL, and transfer portal attrition is always something to account for. The Tigers will likely look to once again add wide receivers this off-season to keep the talent pool loaded.
