LSU Baseball entered Wednesday's matchup with the Kentucky Wildcats seemingly in a win and in scenario after picking up a massive win against Georgia on Tuesday. Many outlet projected that LSU would be in regardless but, a win over Kentucky made it nearly a certainty. The Wildcats entered the game ranked third in the Division One Baseball RPI meaning a win gave LSU a massive resume point.

Michael Braswell III understood the importance of starting off hot and sent the third pitch of the game into the bullpen to give LSU a 1-0 lead early. Braswell would come through again in the second driving in Ashton Larson to double the LSU lead.

After Gage Jump turned in a stellar outing on Tuesday, Luke Holman decided it was his turn to one up him. Luke Holman pitched six innings without allowing a hit walking two batters and kept Kentucky off the scoreboard. He'd throw 100 pitches with 63 resulting in strikes while striking out seven Wildcats. Former LSU Baseball Star Anthony Ranaudo was impressed with the outing saying the following:

The Tigers looked to get insurance runs for the bullpen and got it from Jared Jones as he hit a grand slam to put the Tigers up 6-0 breaking an 0-7 slump this tournament after the Wildcats opted to intentionally walk Tommy White. Hayden Travinski decided it was time to break his slump as well and hit a solo shot of his own.

LSU would lose its no-hit bid immediately upon Holman's departure but, Gavin Guidry would work out of trouble. The Tigers would once again overwhelm Kentucky's pitching staff loading the bases before Tommy White blew the game open with a massive grand slam. Guidry would close out the Wildcats giving the Tigers a mercy rule victory over one of the Nation's best teams.

One Poor Regional Host is going to be upset they drew LSU

Next week, one team who had an incredible season is going to draw the LSU Tigers in their region and will be upset with their draw. The Tigers just smashed two teams that'll host regionals by a combined score of 20-1. The Tigers have been on an incredible run and have two pitchers in Jump and Holman who can easily shut down any opponent. The offense is crushing opponents right now and what was once a lost LSU baseball season now shows serious promise.
