Tuesday marks the official opening of the Spring Transfer window in college football. Top College Football analysts like Josh Pate and Andy Staples believe that the Spring Transfer window may be more hectic than the fall transfer window. The following days will bring utter chaos so here are a few things to know and to follow.

The Tigers are over the Scholarship limit at 88 players after the departure of Jaxon Howard meaning we'll see at least three LSU Tigers enter the transfer portal. If Brian Kelly and the staff look to add any players we'll see an additional player leave for each player brought in.

Any player that enters the transfer portal in the Spring transfer window can't transfer in conference unless given a special waiver. This means that any players that leave LSU can't join a rival with the same going for any player that leaves a conference rival. Also, important to note that Oklahoma and Texas both count as conference teams as they're joining the SEC.

Brian Kelly has told the media multiple times that the Tigers are only targeting defensive tackles in this Spring transfer window after losing Mekhi Wingo, Maason Smith, and Jordan Jefferson to the NFL Draft and Tygee Hill, Fitzgerald West Jr, Bryce Langston, and Quency Wiggins to the transfer portal. The Tigers will bring in Wisconsin transfer Gio Paez once the transfer portal opens and hosted Indiana transfer Philip Blidi on a visit.

"I don't see any positions that we need to be in the transfer portal for other than the defensive tackle position."

While Kelly would like to add defensive tackles the team may also need to address some other areas following the Spring Game. The Secondary struggled in the Spring game with several busted coverages resulting in huge plays. The Tigers after their defensive struggles in 2023 should consider any impact defensive players that enter the transfer portal in order to put the roster in the best place for 2024.

Building out what could be a College Football playoff roster

The 2024 season marks the first year of the expanded college football playoff meaning that the LSU Tigers will have a serious chance at making the playoff. The Tigers are expected to once again have an explosive offense with the return of one of that nation's best offensive lines and playmakers in Kyren Lacy and Mason Taylor. The biggest question will be what the defense looks like after being one of the worst units in college football in 2023. If the team can add some major difference makers alongside Harold Perkins then LSU will have a chance to be a serious contender in 2024.
