The day has finally come where we have official AP Poll Rankings to look at when judging where teams will finish in 2024. The teams we see opening the season will now have the little numbers next to their names which anger most fans especially as they're based mostly on past performances. The LSU Football team enters the season as the 13th Ranked Team putting them outside of the College Football Playoff. After reviewing the AP Poll, here is who is Overrated, Underrated, and properly rated in the SEC.

Georgia Bulldogs - Top Ranked- Properly Rated

The one man who has consistently beaten Kirby Smart has now left the sport as Georgia will look to gain conference supremacy. The Bulldogs lost plenty to the NFL Draft this past season but, they have every year at this point. The Bulldogs return a Heisman front runner, one of the best offensive lines, and a defense loaded top to bottom. You can make the case that any ranking other than the top spot is wrong at this point with Kirby Smart at the helm.

Texas Longhorns - 4th Ranked - Properly Rated

The Texas Longhorns did lose Xavier Worthy, AD Mitchell, Byron Murphy, Jonathon Brooks, T'Vondre Sweat, and Ja'Tavion Sanders pretty early in the Draft but, look at the talent coming in. At receiver, the Longhorns bring in transfers Isaiah Bond, Silas Bolden, and Matthew Golden who will lead this team in receiving while Freshman Ryan Wingo looks like a Day One contributor. Amari Niblack will replace Sanders at tight end and Bill Norton will fill a defensive tackle hole. The biggest question right now is running back as CJ Baxter will miss the season but, with a Heisman front-runner at Quarterback the Longhorns should be a lock for the Playoff.

Alabama Crimson Tide - 5th Ranked - Overrated

Nick Saban leaves Tuscaloosa but, in comes Kalen DeBoer fresh off of an appearance in the National Championship Game. There's a ton of turnover with this roster due to the transfer portal and the draft so it is hard to gauge where they should be ranked. The Tide will have a solid offensive line and a Heisman hopeful at quarterback giving the Tide a high floor in 2024. The biggest questions are at cornerback and wide receiver where the Tide only have one returnee leaning heavily on transfer and Freshman additions. Given the turnover on the roster and the fact that the Tide will host Georgia and Missouri while traveling to Death Valley and Knoxville the Tide are overrated.

Ole Miss Rebels - 6th Ranked - Overrated

It seems like one of the programs the expanded College Football Playoff will benefit the most is Ole Miss as Lane Kiffin consistently has the Rebels in Playoff contention. If the Rebels miss the Playoffs in 2024, when will Kiffin ever get over the hump. On paper, the Rebels have one of the Nation's best rosters but, given all of the transfer additions, the 6th ranking feels a little too high before seeing this group on the field.

Missouri Tigers - 11th Ranked - Overrated

The Missouri Tigers have been everyone's offseason darling fresh off of an 11-2 season. At this point, the Tigers are getting too much credit for their 2023 season. The Tigers lost to LSU and Georgia in their two biggest games while wins over Tennessee and Ohio State have gotten more credit then they deserve especially as Ohio State dealt with bowl game opt outs. Missouri is a playoff contender but, at 11th they are overrated until they beat one of the powerhouses in the SEC.
