Good Morning and welcome back to College Football as the 2024 College Football season is officially underway. On this week zero slate there are just four matchups and only one features a team ranked in the top 25 of the AP Poll but, there are some fascinating matchups. College Football Gameday will be live from Dublin, Ireland but, lets get this season underway.

Florida State Seminoles Vs Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets

The season starts in Dublin, Ireland at Aviva Stadium for the Aer Lingus College Football Classic as the 10th ranked Florida State Seminoles take on the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets. The game and the College Football season will kick off at 12 PM Eastern or 11 AM Central time on ESPN. The Seminoles are looking to repeat as ACC Champions and if they do, the Seminoles won't miss the College Football Playoff thanks to expansion.

The Player to watch for Florida State's offense is DJ Uiagalelei as he returns to the ACC after a stint at Oregon State. On defense, watch for Marvin Jones Jr, a Georgia transfer once rated as a five-star recruit. If the transfers the Seminoles brought in can effectively replace players like Jordan Travis, Jared Verse, Keon Coleman, and Trey Benson then the Seminoles will easily be a National Title contender.

The Player to watch on the Georgia Tech offense is still the quarterback Hayes King. The Texas A&M transfer has flashed at times while he's been very inconsistent, if King can be consistent the Yellow Jackets will surprise this season potentially in this game. On the defense look out for linebacker Kyle Efford, as a redshirt freshman, he led the team in tackles with 81 tackles. Now with experience in the defense, Efford could explode this season becoming one of the best linebackers in College Football.

Montana State Bobcats Vs New Mexico Lobos

The second game of the season will be a matchup of the Big Sky versus the Mountain West Conference. The game will be played in New Mexico and is slated to kick off at 4:00 PM Eastern or 3:00 PM Central Time. For those looking to watch the game, it'll be broadcast on Fox Sports 1.

The Lobos' offense is filled with incoming transfers but, look out for transfer running back Eli Sanders. Last season at Iowa State, Sanders averaged 4.7 yards per carry and showed some ability as a receiver and he could be a key piece in this offense. Defensively, transfer cornerback Noah Avinger is a player to watch, he missed all of 2023 with injury but, prior to that he was an exciting player at San Diego State.

The players to watch for the Bobcats are running back Julius Davis and defensive back Rylan Ortt. The Bobcats were able to return their leading rusher and leading interceptor and both players will be veteran leaders for this team.

SMU Mustangs Vs Nevada Wolfpack

The SMU Mustangs kick off their first season as a member of the ACC against the Nevada Wolfpack in a non-conference game. The Mustangs enter the season as a darkhorse to make the College Football Playoff and to win the ACC after an 11-3 season in 2023. The game will kick off at 8 PM Eastern or 7 PM Central Time on CBS Sports Network.

The Player to watch on SMU's offense is tight end RJ Maryland entering his Junior season. Maryland flashed in 2023 with 34 catches for 518 yards and 7 touchdowns and enters the season with a chance to win the Mackey Award. On the Mustangs defense, the player to watch is safety Isaiah Nwokobia. In 2023, he led the defense with four interceptions and finished third with 61 tackles.

The Player to watch on Nevada's Offense is starting quarterback Brendon Lewis, last season the Wolfpack offense struggled and Lewis got the majority of the playing time at quarterback but, he'll have to improve in 2024. The Wolfpack defense lost their bets players but, look out for transfer Kitan Crawford who comes over from the Texas Longhorns.

Delaware State Hornets Vs Hawaii Rainbow Warriors

As Pac-12 after dark leaves our lives, we atleast still have the late night Hawaii game in our lives. The Rainbow Warriors host the Delaware State Hornets who are coming off of a one win season and dealt with travel issues this week. The game is in Hawaii and is slated to kick off at 11:59 Eastern Time and can be streamed on the Team1 sports app.

This game is the least appealing game on the slate given the teams, the start time, and the fact it's not on regular television but, atleast College Football is back. The Hawaii Rainbow Warriors showed promise last season under Timmy Chang and they'll look to carry their momentum into 2024.
