Power Ranking the SEC After Week 13: Ole Miss, Alabama, and Texas A&M all fall
The 13th Week of the College Football season brought a ton of chaos specifically in the SEC. After Greg Sankey started lobbying for his two loss SEC teams he was rewarded by Alabama, Texas A&M, and Ole Miss all suffering their third losses of the season putting the SEC in an even worse position in the College Football Playoff race.
The Conference now has half of its Conference Championship game set as Georgia awaits the winner of Texas A&M vs Texas. As things currently stand, Texas, Georgia, and Tennessee feel like the only teams firmly in the Playoff race while the rest is uncertain.
After a wild Week 13 of the College Football season, here is how we Power Rank the 16 teams in the SEC.
Once again, the Mississippi State Bulldogs fought hard but, didn't come away with a win as they're undermanned in every SEC game they play. The Bulldogs were always going to have a rough year this season but, the fight they've shown each week proves Jeff Lebby is the man for this job. This week, the Bulldogs will have all the motivation in the world as they'll have a chance to win their first SEC game which would kill any remaining hope that Ole Miss will make the College Football Playoff.
Mark Stoops has already addressed the rumors that he may be fired or may step down which is the first sign that a Coach may be on the way-out whether they want to or not. The Wildcats frankly aren't exciting and the fanbase is tired of being average or bad aside from the occasional year when everything clicks. The biggest thing hurting Mark Stoops is how good Jon Sumrall looks at Tulane as we may see the Wildcats make a homecoming move like they did with Mark Pope.
This weekend was incredible for Auburn fans as their team pulled off a massive upset in Jordan-Hare while Alabama lost. Jarquez Hunter and Cam Coleman were incredible for Auburn combining for 258 yards and five touchdowns. Now the table is set, Auburn can fully end Alabama's Playoff Hopes while also earning Bowl Eligibility with a win in the Iron Bowl.
After a backbreaking loss to Missouri, no one gave Oklahoma a shot at knocking off Alabama yet, on Saturday Night, the Sooners punched their ticket to a bowl game in the best way possible. Jackson Arnold is starting to look the part for the Sooners while they decided to hammer Alabama with their run game controlling the line of scrimmage on both sides of this game. The defense had Jalen Milroe running for his life and forced him into three interceptions derailing Alabama's offense. As Brent Venables looks to get this team back to where they should be, a win like this one could be all the Sooners need heading into 2025.
