As we approach Spring Practices, the excitement around the LSU Football team and their potential ceiling is only starting to ramp back up again. The Tigers went out and added one of the Nation's best transfer classes supplementing a strong group of returnees to give LSU a roster capable of making the College Football Playoff.
The additions alone won't be enough to make the LSU Football team a Championship Contender as several players will have to take the next step becoming key pieces for the Tigers. The best place to look for emerging stars is at the Freshmen who played a ton and will now grow in their roles next season. In LSU's rising Sophomore, five players stand out as the next in line for superstardom at LSU.
Trey'Dez Green
The Texas Bowl and Trey'Dez Green's appearances on the basketball court have already started his ascent to Superstardom. When the 2025 season kicks off, Trey'Dez Green will be LSU's starting tight end and he'll quickly become a popular name around the Country. Brian Kelly has emphasized the tight end position at LSU and Green may be the most physically gifted he's had at the position.

Dominick McKinley
The top recruit in LSU's 2024 recruiting class was Consensus Five Star defensive tackle Dominick McKinley but, due to him not being an early enrollee it took him longer to enter the lineup. When McKinley finally looked like he gained his footing he was a serious pass rush threat on the interior racking up three sacks for the Tigers in limited playing time. Gio Paez, Paris Shand, and Jay'Viar Suggs all depart opening up a ton of playing time and with a full offseason in the program, McKinley is set to explode in his Sophomore campaign.
Ahmad Breaux
After signing with LSU as an edge rusher the Tigers need at defensive tackle led to the staff moving Ahmad Breaux to the interior. Breaux quickly became a consistent contributor for the Tigers playing in every game starting twice for a total of 292 defensive snaps. In the Texas Bowl we saw Breaux play his most snaps yet and in 2025 with a full offseason at the position, Breaux is poised to be a breakout star for LSU on the inside.
Gabe Reliford
While LSU went out this offseason and added three transfer edge rushers, Gabe Reliford will be in the mix to start on the edge. Reliford is the most versatile of LSU's edge rushers and after appearing in every game for LSU in 2024, he's poised to see an increase in snaps in 2025. Whether Reliford is truly coming off of the edge or putting his hand in the dirt we should see a ton from the Sophomore.
Dashawn Spears
Last year the LSU Football team landed one of the Nation's best safety recruits in Louisiana Native Dashawn Spears. In his Freshman season, Spears appeared in 13 games starting three of them and he showed flashes of what he could be with 24 tackles and a pass breakup. Spears will now get an entire offseason in the program and a chance to compete for a starting role with the departures of Major Burns and Sage Ryan. LSU desperately needs one of the younger safeties to step up and Spears is the best candidate to do so.
