On Monday Night, dreams come true for several athletes as the 2025 WNBA Draft gets underway in Manhattan. This season, a new franchise enters the WNBA as the Golden State Valkyries enter the league. The first round of this draft is also highly intriguing as the Las Vegas Aces had to forfeit their first round pick for a league rules violation while 9 of the 12 first round picks have been traded thus far.
After Angel Reese was the 7th overall pick last season, the LSU Lady Tigers may produce another first round pick in the 2025 WNBA Draft as Aneesah Morrow is a draft candidate. Nearly every WNBA Mock Draft has Aneesah Morrow being selected in the first round but, where she may land is the biggest question.
Two landing spots standout as the most likely destinations for Aneesah Morrow which are the Golden State Valkyries and the Connecticut Sun.
The Golden State Valkyries are a complete blank slate which could make them one of the top landing spots for Aneesah Morrow. The concern with Aneesah Morrow moving to the WNBA is that she's undersized for the position and is paint dominant which could make her a difficult fit. Given that the Valkyries just took two centers in the expansion draft, the team can land Morrow and transition her toward becoming a traditional Power Forward.
If the Golden State Valkyries don't select Aneesah Morrow then the LSU star will most likely land with the Connecticut Sun. The Sun own both the 7th overall pick and the 8th overall pick which gives Morrow two chances to head North. The Sun are going through a serious roster rebuild and need to add difference making pieces to the roster. The ideal draft for the Sun includes landing a player that can do the work inside like Aneesah Morrow while nabbing a guard like Kentucky's Georgia Amoore to build a young duo to count on.
