Purdue Pass Rusher Will Heldt is set to visit LSU as transfer cycle begins
The Transfer Portal officially opened on Monday in College Football which has set forth chaos the next few weeks until the portal closes on December 28th. We started to hear on Monday which players LSU was linked to whether it was through reported interest, scholarship offers, or through planned visits to Baton Rouge.
LSU has gotten its first bit of visit news as Purdue Sophomore edge rusher Will Heldt will visit Baton Rouge in the days to come.
Heldt is coming off of an impressive second season in the Big Ten where he recorded 56 tackles, 5 sacks, and a fumble recovery. His sacks came against some impressive teams with good offensive lines with 2 sacks versus Indiana State, half a sack Vs Notre Dame, 1.5 sacks vs Illinois, and a sack against Oregon.
The Tigers biggest competitor for Heldt appears to be Texas A&M who has also been very active in the transfer portal early on setting up a ton of visits.
Edge Rusher is one of the positions LSU will need to make a priority as LSU will lose Bradyn Swinson and Sai'Vion Jones as they're out of eligibility while potential replacement Da'Shawn Womack entered the transfer portal.
The Tigers have started to push for transfers at the position setting up a visit with Heldt, offering a scholarship to Kameron olds, and were named a finalist for Nebraska Transfer Jimari Butler. Kevin Peoples has developed a reputation as one of the best at developing edge rushers and with two starting jobs open, LSU should be one of the most attractive landing spots.
