When the LSU Football team lost Bryce Underwood to Michigan late in the 2025 recruiting cycle, it put the Tigers in a tricky situation recruiting Quarterbacks. The vast majority of the top signal callers in the 2025 class were locked in with schools while most of the 2026 quarterbacks committed elsewhere as there was no clear path to playing time with Underwood on board.

The Tigers now look to land a quarterback in the 2026 recruiting class whether its through flipping a quarterback or landing one of the top uncommitted recruits. Whether LSU views the Quarterback as a player that can instantly compete to replace Garrett Nussmeier or as a player who will need to develop, the Tigers will need to add to the Quarterback room.

Joe Sloan and the LSU Football program may have identified a long term option at the Quarterback position as the Tigers offered Texas Native Bowe Bentley.

According to On3's Industry Recruiting Rankings, Bentley is the 243rd best player in the Country, the 16th ranked Quarterback in the Class, and the 29th ranked player out of Texas. As of late, Bentley's recruitment has taken off as LSU, Georgia, Florida State, and Missouri have offered him in the last few weeks.

This season for Celina, Bentley completed 70% of his passes for 3,330 yards and 47 touchdowns while picking up another 933 yards and 16 touchdowns with his legs. Bentley has the ability to maneuver the pocket with his rushing talent while he has the arm talent to make some NFL level throws while on the run. Bentley isn't just a functional runner, when he takes off he can flat out fly and on designed runs he's not afraid to run a defender over.

The two names to watch now the rest of this recruiting cycle are Jake Fette and Bowe Bentley as Joe Sloan's two latest offers. It'll be interesting to see which quarterback LSU gets on campus first and if either start to trend toward LSU.
