The LSU men's basketball program suffered yet another embarrassing loss on Tuesday night. The No. 21 Arkansas Razorbacks came to town and left with a win that was never in doubt. Arkansas won by a score of 91-62, dropping the Tigers to a measly 2-9 in SEC play so far this season.
Stakes continue to rise for Kim Mulkey and LSU as huge recruiting weekend awaits
The Matt McMahon era continues to be a frustrating one for LSU fans. Now in his fourth seasons, McMahon owns an overall record of 59-63 (.484) and is just 16-49 (.246) in SEC play during his tenure in Baton Rouge.
McMahon remains LSU's head coach, but cries for the program to move on have became even louder in recent weeks. Fans made a statement on how they feel about the current state of the Tiger men's basketball program with jarring attendance numbers on Tuesday against Arkansas.
Less than half a capacity crowd watches LSU vs. Arkansas at the PMAC
The PMAC has a maximum of capacity of 13,215. For Tuesday night's matchup against the Razorbacks, only 6,701 fans were in attendance according to ESPN. It looked like even less fans were in attendance than that, as several LSU media members pointed out the shockingly small crowd.
A couple of minutes to tip of the #LSU-Arkansas men’s game. Smallest crowd I’ve seen in the PMAC for anything since Covid. Stunning. pic.twitter.com/KsTzIMIFyo

We’ve hit a new low tonight with this dismantling.

Enough is just about enough. A sprinkling of silent fans at the PMAC absorb the horror, as a listless and uncompetitive #LSU falls to 2-9 in SEC play.
The Tigers have yet to make the NCAA Tournament under McMahon, and with a 2-9 mark in SEC play, it seems that postseason play is a pipe dream for LSU at this point in time.
The results on the hardwood indicate that McMahon's seat should be hot, but the financial side of things is worth monitoring. When it comes to McMahon's buyout, LSU would have to pay him approximately $7.5 million for the final three years of his contract. In addition, LSU would have to buy out his staff and then hire a new staff while still paying the roster.
The Tigers are back in action this Saturday, February 14 with a road tilt against the Tennessee Volunteers in Knoxville. Tip-off is slated for 5:00 p.m. CT.
