This weekend, the LSU Baseball team opened its season up by picking up three wins over the Purdue Fort Wayne Mastodons. While Purdue Fort Wayne isn't the most talented opponent, it was a great opponent to face off against as LSU looks to gel after adding a ton of transfers and freshmen. Leaving the weekend, there are three massive takeaways you can make after watching the new look Tigers.

Daniel Dickinson will be one of the best players in the Country

When LSU brought in transfer Daniel Dickinson, he was clearly one of the Nation's top transfers but, you wanted to see it before buying into the hype. After seeing his first weekend in the Purple and Gold, Daniel Dickinson lived up to the hype. Dickinson finished the weekend 5 for 9 at the plate with a home run, 7 RBIs, and walked three times. The Tigers can either start Dickinson at the top of the lineup ensuring someone gets on to start each game or they can use Dickinson as protection behind Jared Jones.

Being aggressive on the basepaths was a clear priority for Jay Johnson

Last season, the LSU Baseball team was a little too reliant on hitting home runs as the team wasn't as versatile as Jay Johnson would have liked. It was clear this offseason with the type of players Jay Johnson pursued that the Tigers were going to look to become more aggressive on the base paths. In the opening series, LSU stole five bases while getting caught stealing a few times clearly showing a commitment to being more aggressive.

The Tigers Bullpen is one of the best in the Country

When Kade Anderson said that the Tigers had five Friday Starters he wasn't lying especially when you see what the Tigers bring out of the bullpen. This weekend, the Tigers used nine different pitchers out of the bullpen and if Jay Johnson was looking for some clarity he didn't get it. The Tigers bullpen pitched 12 innings without allowing a run while striking out 24 batters and surrendering just one walk. The Tigers bullpen dominated this weekend while Gavin Guidry didn't even appear which shows just how deep this staff is.
