The 5 Biggest Winners and Losers of Week 10 in College Football
This weekend was one of the best weekends in College Football as we had a massive matchup headlining the slate along with a few massive upsets that shift the College Football Playoff picture. The College Football Playoff committee releases its first rankings this week and after this weekend no one knows what to expect as there are still so many teams in contention for the playoff. After an incredible Week 10, here are the biggest winners and losers of the season.
Winner - Cam Ward's Heisman Campaign
Ashton Jeanty had his shot to put up a massive performance on Friday night rushing for 149 yards and a pair of scores. The issue was, that Cam Ward then got his turn to bolster his case for the Heisman Trophy and he did just that against Duke. In the game, Ward was 25 for 41 passing for 400 yards and five touchdowns with one interception.
On the season, Ward has passed for 2,746 yards and 24 touchdowns with just five interceptions while rushing for another 186 yards and three touchdowns. There isn't another quarterback in the country with a resume as great as Ward's and he is most likely headed to New York with a serious chance to win the Heisman Trophy.
Loser - James Franklin and Penn State
All week James Franklin and Penn State complained about the fact that their game wasn't a night game. Then Penn State took the field and showed why they never get the scheduling benefit as they played an uninspiring brand of football.
Penn State passed for just 150 yards and an interception on 21 passing attempts as they once again couldn't do anything passing versus the Buckeyes. The run game wasn't much better either as they picked up just 120 yards on 32 attempts while their tight end Tyler Warren and quarterback Drew Allar out rushed the running backs.
James Franklin at this point is one of the worst big game coaches, he's 1-10 against Ohio State, 1-9 against Top 5 Opponents, 6-10 against ranked teams at home, and 1-7 against top ten teams at home. This team will likely make the College Football Playoff but, they won't be a threat as their offense struggles as soon as they face a tough opponent.
